State College DB Keaton Ellis receives Penn State football scholarship offer – Centre Daily Times

One of State College’s own Little Lions could eventually become a Penn State Nittany Lion.

Rising junior DB Keaton Ellis camped at Penn State on Friday and impressed the staff to earn a scholarship offer as a 2019 football prospect. Ellis announced the offer on Twitter late Friday night.

According to ESPN’s recruiting database, Ellis is the first State College football player to receive a scholarship offer since Alex Kenney, a three-time all-state football athlete who graduated from high school in 2010.

“Incredibly blessed to have received an offer from” Penn State football, Ellis wrote.

Ellis also boasts offers from Buffalo and Syracuse. He is not yet rated by most of the national scouting services — such as ESPN, 247 and Scout — but it’s likely he won’t remain off the radar for much longer.

As a sophomore for the Little Lions last season, Ellis was a triple threat as a receiver, defensive back and returner. On defense, he collected 32 tackles, nine passes defended, one fumble recovery and one tackle for loss. On offense, he finished with 19 carries for 186 yards to go along with two catches for 16 yards. And, on special teams, he had eight punt returns for 111 yards and a kick return for 15 yards.

The 6-foot, 160-pound athlete — those were his numbers in the fall, at least — also competes in track and basketball.
