Report: Sergio Rodriguez to return to Europe, will play for CSKA … – CBSSports.com

Sergio Rodriguez‘s return to the NBA has turned out to be short-lived. According to a report, the Spaniard will be returning to Europe next season to play for CSKA Moscow. Via ESPN:

Sergio Rodriguez reportedly will again play in the EuroLeague after a one-year return to the NBA last season.

The point guard, who played last season for the Philadelphia 76ers, agreed to a three-year contract with CSKA Moscow, according to multiple reports. Freelance journalist David Pick first reported the news.

Rodriguez began his NBA career back in 2006 with the Portland Trail Blazers and played his first three seasons there. After splitting the 2009-10 season between New York and Sacramento, however, he went to play in Europe for Real Madrid and won EuroLeague MVP in 2014 and the EuroLeague title in 2015.

He has also been a staple of the Spanish national team, helping them win the EuroBasket gold medal in 2015, as well as the silver medal in the 2012 Olympics, and the bronze medal in the 2016 Olympics last summer.

After six years away from the NBA, the Philadelphia 76ers were able to bring Rodriguez back stateside last season. He had a decent campaign, starting 30 of his 68 games while averaging 7.8 points and 5.1 assists, though he shot just 39.2 percent. His contract was for just one season, however, and he did not appear to be a part of The Process moving forward.

Rodriguez will take over for Milos Teodosic at CSKA Moscow. Teodosic will begin his NBA career next season with the Los Angeles Clippers.
